"I think it is important that MCRGO members are informed about how we are being treated." - David K. Felbeck, President of MCRGO - October 24, 2003
Subject: Allegations of impropriety [November 06, 2003] Dear BoD members, I just received an email with the attached link that includes in it, information that if true, must be addressed immediately by the Board. Please take the time to review it and I would appreciate your take on the allegations within the publication. Are these allegations true or not? If true, what do you personally, as a member of the Board of Directors of MCRGO, plan to do about it. If untrue, please clarify the errors, misstatements or untruths in it. These are serious allegations, and as a member of this organization, I believe I am entitled some answers, and would hope to hear from each of you regarding this matter. The link I received: https://care4mi.tripod.com/mrcc.htm Sincerely, John R. Johnson Member#6205 --- [November 07, 2003] Dear Mr. Johnson, If I were to say that I heard some really vicious tales about you, and was therefore concerned about your being the right kind of person for membership here, and then wanted to know if the allegations were true and wanted - no demanded, immediate answers to these allegations, and not just answers but proof of your answers, would you be inclined to provide them? Hmmm? That said, I find your request to be assumptive and rude. Your going to a whimpering excuse of a website is no different than listening to the neighborhood gossip, whose blathering you know to be false, and to whom you wouldn't listen except for the entertainment value. We maintain a website second to none in the amount and variety of information we provide there, and are always looking for ways to improve on it. In addition we publish the On Target magazine for those folks who cannot or who prefer to get their information in a hand held version. And we are constantly working to improve the material therein as well. At every quarterly meeting, we hand out financial information, we try to anticipate what members want to know, and attempt to address those areas at these meetings. We hold Q&A periods, at which we attempt to address any reasonable inquiries. And John, please consider this a personal invitation to attend the meeting. Check your "On Target" for the location and time of the next one. Or find it on the website. Incidentally, while we are on the subject: does Rosebud on the "other" website provide all this for you? Personally, I refuse to answer any inquiry that emanates from websites or which attack or are otherwise abusive of paid or volunteer employees, or to our membership. Our job is not to defend ourselves from half backed idiots who have learned how to put up a web site, but to promote and work toward enabling gun rights for Michigan residents, and I your gun rights and mine. Read our mission statement; that is the work we prefer to be doing. Every time someone like you decides to tear us a new one cuts into our efforts just a little bit. That should make you proud of your efforts here today, John. Oh yeah, the answer you would have provided to my first paragraph? Have you thought about it? Well, I probably would not have been that rude. Even if I had thought it. Sincerely, Jim Kliemann --- [November 8, 2003] Director Kliemann, First of all, you are an elected official that supposed to be accountable to your membership. Is the membership and direction of this organization not your first obligation? If not, from where do your allegiances and motivations emanate? I am not a paid employee of this organization who is entrusted with having the best interest and direction of this ORGANIZATION as my duty. So I am not in a position to have to answer to a membership or an individual over allegations as are listed on the website put up by some "half baked idiot". You have any questions for me, ask away. I do not operate in secrecy. There is my answer to your question, Mr. Kliemann. As far as your pejoratives and marginalization of the questions raised in place of explanations that are owed by you to your membership, frankly, to me it smacks of desperation and confusion. Your "Rosebud" comment is indecipherable as is most of your response. I don't understand much of your intent or motivation in this response. And calling my asking for answers to serious and clearly obvious allegation as "rude", I find quite odd. Your spinning my request for answers to obviously disturbing allegations into a personal attack against me, thus avoiding the questions is telling to say the least. I thank you for your response anyway and think I fully understand your position on these issues now. I just hope all of the Directors are not as close minded as you appear to be. Sincerely, John R. Johnson --- [November 10, 2003] Hello John, Sorry about the typos. Spell check doesn't edit word changes/additions/deletions and dumb errors by the typist. I appreciate your coming back; I have no problem responding to a few civil inquiries. <<< You inquired me as to “...why a non-member was appointed the Election Committee and who was involved in that appointment process....?” >>> Due to activity on the part of the Union, that memberships in MCRGO were available to those interested, it was suggested, presumably by then President David Felbeck that a member of that Union be asked to participate. Our Executive Director was asked for a name, and the one proffered was that of Mike Jackson. Mike was then a legislative aide for the Union, a Democrat, and hailed from the Monroe area, where no other candidate was from. Further, Mike had recently completed one of our CPL legislator classes. This name was accepted by President Felbeck, and at a later date, approved by members of the Board. As to Mike Jackson being a non-member, this is false. Mike Jackson was and is a member, in the database on the 15th of March 2003, which is one day prior to the EC convening. There is no impropriety in this. I believe I have answered your question (s) John. Let me know if there is anything else I can do for you. Thanks James M. Subject: Vote Totals [December 24, 2003] Dear Directors, As I understand the ByLaws of the organization, as a dues paying member I have a right to examine the vote totals of the most recent election, as well as complete financial specifics, including, but not limited to: profit and loss statements, expenditures, payroll information as it applies to employees, etc. Perhaps this data could be accessible to members wishing to review it at the next Board meeting in January? If this is something that is prohibited could you please direct me to the section of the ByLaws referring to this? Thank you, John R. Johnson Member #6205 Howell, MI 517-546-5923 --- [December 28, 2003] Hi John, The first thing we need to do is to establish a correct identity for you. If you have moved or changed anything on or from your membership information, please send the corrected information. If you have a name change from when you first joined, please indicate your preferred information so we can make your records current. If you care to attend the meeting, John, fairly complete information is usually available at every quarterly meeting. thanks for your cooperation James M. Kliemann Director, MCRGO Our Mission Statement: "Promoting safe use and ownership of firearms through education, litigation, and legislation" --- [December 28, 2003] Jim, Thanks for the quick reponse. You have my correct identity, address, phone number and membership number on file. Is there something else you need? Also, regarding your sentence "fairly complete" information is usually available at every quarterly meeting." I am interested in Complete information, as the Bylaws provide for, not edited versions.
